CIRCULATION POLICIES
The number of books and other materials students may check out varies with their grade:
This circulation policy is flexible and exceptions can always be made when extra materials are needed for class assignments and other research needs.
Parents of GSS students may borrow materials from the school library. A patron account must be established. Books may be checked out for one week only.
LIBRARY INSTRUCTIONS and READING PROGRAMS
[Back to Top]
The library is open from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday. Students have access to eight fully networked computers. Our collection includes approximately 10,000 volumes of books, magazines, videos, and CDs.
The students at GSS have access to the library throughout the week and after school. All classes visit the library once a week to select books and have a lesson on informational skills, library use, and literature appreciation. Additional reference times are available to students for research as a class or on an individual basis.
The library celebrates and encourages reading through the following programs:
- Texas 2×2 Reading Program for Kindergarten
- The Accelerated Reader Program for 2nd – 8th grades
In addition to our services to the students, we also strive to meet the classroom teaching needs of our faculty by suggesting and locating appropriate books and materials that correlate with the classroom curriculum.
